about what is similar, not sensitive
This work is a collection, a mimesis in the form of the sign Y which repeats itself. It can be read, seen, it imposes itself on us through repetition, through similarities. “The highest capacity for producing similarities, however, is man’s” (Walter Benjamin). The space which I find most restful is that of a forest, whereas the sign that has inspired me for many years is the ‘corner’. Through similarities and movement, just like dance and forked branches, I am fascinated by the fact that the sign I see and observe obsessiviely is part of every type of architecture, can always be found in the topology of trees, bushes and plants, in the makeup of a forest, hence nature.
“To read what was never written. Such reading is the most ancient reading before all language, from the entrails, the stars, or dances. Later the mediating link of a new kind of reading, of runes and hieroglyphs, came into use. It seems fair to suppose that these were the stages by which the mimetic gift, which was once the foundation of occult practices, gain admittance to writing and language. In this way language may be seen as the highest level of mimetic behaviour and most complete archive nionsensuous similarity: a medium into which the earlier powers of mimetic production and comprehension have passed without residue, to the point where they have liquidated those of magic”.
